Ghushneshwar Jyotirlinga

Ghushneshwar is believed as the Last or 12th Jyotirlinga on the earth. This pilgrimage site is located at a village called Verul which lies at a distance of 11 km from Daulatabad and 30 km from Aurangabad.  It lies at a close proximity to the Ellora caves. A Brahman named Sudharma used to live near a mountain peak deep in the south called Deva. His wife name was Sudeha. The couple was of very pious and righteous nature, ever indulged in the pond in which Ghushna used to immerse her venerated linga's before. Meanwhile, unaware of the tragedy, Ghushna woke up early in the morning and as was she every day ritual she made a linga and began to worship it devoutly. But inside home blood was discovered on the bed yet newly born by couldn’t be found anywhere. While everyone else’s raised the alarm in the house, Ghusna was not distracted by this condition and continued with her prayer. Lord Shiv was so much impressed with Ghusna'sconcetration in devotion to him that he restored her son back to. Not only that the lord also wised to kill the wicked lady shudeha with his trident. But rghusna biggest for her aunt's life and shiv at last connected to his devotee's request. This act of forgiveness to her son’s murderer further impressed shiv and he decided to give Ghusma Another boon part from restoring her son and filling her coffess with riches and affluence of all kinds. Ghushna then asked for a second boon: that the lord might always remain present in the linga near the pond. Hence the name Ghushneswara to this 12th jyotirlinga.
