Nalhati is a town, near the West Bengal / Jharkhand border. This town is named after the Shakti peetha Nalhateshwari temple which according to the mythologies is the situated where the nala ie throat of goddess Shakti had fallen. This is one of the 51 Shakti peethas. Devi's vocal pipe fell here and the idols are Devi as Kalika (Durga) and Shiva as Yogesh. By train from Howrah station. From Hawra to Nolhati by rail (145 miles).
