Upcoming Festival-Dattatreya Jayanti 2021

Dattatreya was the son of the sage Atri and his wife Anasuya. The youngster Dattatreya soon attained adulthood because he had the emission of the Trimurtis and as he was a huge man of the uppermost understanding, all the Rishis and ascetics worshipped him.

He was mild, nonviolent and friendly. He was an Avadhuta—an austere who forever leftovers nude. He preached the fact of Vedanta. Dattatreya trained his Avadhuta Gita to Lord Subramanya. This is a breath taking book which contains the truths and secrets of Vedanta and the experiences of Self-realisation.

At one occasion, as he was nomadic happily in a forest, he met King Yadu, who, on considering Dattatreya so happy, asked him the clandestine of his happiness in addition to the name of his Guru. Dattatreya thought, “The Self unaccompanied is my Guru so far, I have learnt understanding from twenty-four extra persons and matter. So they, too, are also my Gurus.”
  
Dattatreya then mentioned the names of his twenty-four Gurus and spoke of the perception that he had learnt from each as follows: 

The names of my twenty-four Gurus are, water, earth, fire, moon, python, pigeon, ocean, moth, honey-gatherers (black bee), bees, sun, elephant, sky ,deer, fish, raven, child, the dancing-girl Pingala, maiden, serpent, arrow-maker, spider and beetle.
