Vat Savitri Puja is a celebration of the Hindus which is by and large celebrated in the month of Jyestha (mid May to mid June). The celebration is commended all around 3 days and 3 nights. It starts on the thirteenth day of the splendid or dim a large portion of a lunar fortnight and proceeds work the full or new moon day. Legend of Vat Savitri Puja :

The celebration is commended to pay tribute to Savatri, the wife of Satyavan who brought her demised spouse once more to life. Savitri was the little girl of Aswapati, King of Madra. She wedded Satyavan, who was a banished sovereign living in the woods with his unseeing folks. Savitri left the dignitaries and solaces of the regal royal residence and went to live in the backwoods with her spouse and in-laws. 

She served them with affection and dedication. A year later, Satyavan kicked the bucket in the lap of his adored associate Savitri and Yamraj, the God of death seemed to take away his spirit. Savitri earnestly engaged Yamraj to take away her spirit also. Yamraj was moved by her determination and allowed life to Satyavan alongside different shelters that brought their agony to an end.

Festival and customs of Vat Savitri Pooja :

On this favorable day Hindu ladies watch a 3-day fast and love Savitri as the Goddess. They visit banyan trees. They spill the sacred water of River Ganges on the tree and go around it 108 times tying a red string around the bark of the tree petitioning God for their long matrimonial life. 

Upon the arrival of the full moon or new moon, they break their quick and take a religious nourishment offering comprising of rice, beats and different foods grown from the ground. At long last the cleric of the sanctuary presents the story of Savitri and Satyavan.
